Danny's Days - 11th December 2023

Here in the shop, the Christmas orders have been flying in. We still have stock of most meats, although Geese numbers are selling out fast. If you are considering ordering a Goose, I would definitely recommend ordering online or contacting us either this weekend or early next week.

The trends of Christmas ordering have been pretty much the same as previous years with traditional products selling well. A typical feast seems to look like the choice of either a Bronze Turkey or a Goose, accompanied with bacon, stuffings, sausages, Pigs in blankets, cranberry sauce, our gravy, honey roast ham, smoked salmon, a selection of cheeses, mince pies and Christmas puddings.

For the ultimate Christmas offering many customers add one of our award winning and freshly made large piesBoeuf en Croutes have been very popular this years -perhaps to have when entertaining on boxing day.  Some people prefer a slight variation and order Venison Fillet, Beef Rib, Duck or Pork as their main festive meat.

The whole team at Lidgates work tirelessly from now until 1pm on Christmas eve to make sure every last detail is covered meticulously. From taking the phone calls, managing the website, selecting the meat, preparing the orders and finally delivering to the customers door or storing the orders in numeric order ready for customer collection in our shop.

As I write this, I think of all the years we have done this, all the memories, all the different generations of Lidgate teams and most importantly you. It’s hard work, and a long month but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The very best wishes

Danny
