Danny's Days - 5th February 2024

We have recently become aware of a TfL plan to transform Holland Park Roundabout. There is an artistic video showing the plans  released by TfL on the consultation page HERE (notice the lack of vehicles and congestion, definitely not based on a standard Friday afternoon).

Our key concerns are that one less lane:
- Will increase congestion
- Will increase air pollution
- Will increase rat running
- Will increase bus and emergency vehicle journey times
- Will reduce local resident access to roads out of London
- Will reduce customer flow to the local Holland Park Avenue shops
- Will increase the danger of cyclist-pedestrian collisions (particularly the elderly, children and disabled)

There is a consultation meeting 07 February 2024:
Public drop-in event
W12 Shopping centre, Shepherd's Bush Green, London W12 8PP (15:00 – 19:00)

Frustratingly I believe this is under the jurisdiction of Hammersmith and Fulham, but will result in huge congestion up Holland Park Avenue and surrounding roads.

It is worth contacting our MP  for Kensington & Chelsea Felicity Buchan felicity.buchan.mp@parliament.uk and the MP for Hammersmith Andy Slaughter slaughtera@parliament.uk if you share these concerns. We may well soon be calling on you in the coming weeks for your powerful support to join a full-scale campaign.

It might be to try and stop this ill thought out proposal, and it may be in the future to stop the likely resurgence of the cycle superhighway, that the residents of RBKC stopped twice a few years ago so successfully.

The very best wishes,
Danny Lidgate
