Danny's Days - 9th September 2024
This week we are jumping into a new season and welcoming the arrival of new season Grouse and Partridge and there’s more to follow. Grouse are incredibly short in numbers this year as the colder weather earlier in the year unfortunately killed many of the hatchlings. This is the way with wild seasonal food.
We’ve had some incredible weather in the summer and now we are embracing the change into autumn. Today I was talking to our pumpkin farmer (for our famous Pumpkin Pie - available to order soon) who informed me some of his fields were decimated by snails and had 90% losses. He will be able supply us, however other customers may go short. It’s not always sunshine and rainbows being a farmer.
There is some good news - our Shetland Lamb is looking good and should be ready in a month or so.
I hope you have a fantastic and productive week.
The very best wishes,
Danny
