Danny's Days - 30th May 2023

What a wonderful Bank holiday weekend we have just had. The shop was buzzing on Friday and Saturday as people prepared for weekend barbecues and garden parties. The sun certainly brings a feel-good factor to a May weekend.

On Saturday we were cooking and sampling BELLA PEPPER SAUCES which are a made locally. 'Bella' is the nickname sometimes used for the world famous Portobello Road Market where they were first sold. The sauces have a bit of a kick but also come with sweet notes which seem to work really well and allow you to taste the peppers rather than just blow your head off.

After the bank holiday its straight back to work for us here at Lidgates as we start to make preparations for one of the biggest events in the calendar, Father’s Day, which is closely followed in importance by mother’s day (he says with a little grin on his face).

Another project we are doing this year is supporting Opera Holland Park. For those with tickets, you will be able to taste our renowned and much-loved homemade SAUSAGE ROLLS and also a special homemade Country Pork SCOTCH EGGS.

Anyway, there’s lots to look forward to in the coming weeks and months as we get ready for a hot summer and the celebration of the foods that that brings.
