Danny's Days - 20th June 2022

Last week was a busy week at Lidgates, the hotter weather meant more barbecues and outdoor picnics. It looks like this week may be more of the same. In many schools over the next few weeks will be sports days and summer events, lets hope everybody has enough shelter and provisions.

This week also marks the summer solstice. This is  the two moments during the year when the path of the Sun in the sky is farthest north in the Northern Hemisphere.

At Stonehenge on the summer solstice, the sun rises behind the Heel Stone in the north-east part of the horizon and its first rays shine into the heart of Stonehenge.

As I write this newsletter I am in a somewhat strange state of mind. I was involved in a car accident on Saturday late afternoon, whilst nobody was seriously injured, one can't help to think ‘what if’. These sharp events in life can certainly wake you up to highlight what is important, and what is not so important. The importance of enjoying life, making the most of opportunities and cherishing the special moments with loved ones and people close to us. I drive a lot miles every week, and this has certainly made me consider a few things. But most importantly I feel hugely grateful to walk away unscathed.

I hope you all have a wonderful week, and maybe if you can, just take 20 seconds to take be grateful for the special people in our lives. Whatever your religious or spiritual beliefs, one thing for certain is our human lives on earth are not permanent.

The very best wishes
Danny Lidgate
