Coffee Week
Friday marks the start of a week of coffee celebrations as it is the start of UK coffee Week. While the nation has long since been converted to cappuccinos, flat whites and espressos, fewer know how to use this wonderful ingredient in our cooking. So here are some culinary ways to celebrate Coffee Week.
Amongst the events to celebrate Coffee Week are:
The Coffee Bus will be at Old Spitalfields Market in East London giving out free coffees all week! From 2-3pm every day they’ll be running coffee masterclasses on the bus and from 5-9pm on Friday you can join us for an espresso martini party with free cocktails!
A week-long pop up will include a variety of free events including an immersive tasting experience, the Artisan Coffee bar serving complimentary coffees, and an art exhibition. A full list of events are here https://www.ukcoffeeweek.com/events
But there is plenty to do at home to bring the flavour of coffee into some special cooking:
Cowboy Coffee Rub Grilled Pork Chops
Easy spiced Cowboy Coffee Rub Grilled Pork Chops. Coffee, brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic, spices and herbs creates caramelised, tender grilled pork. Recipe here.
Maple And Coffee Glazed Bacon
Coffee has a particular affinity with flavorful meats, and bacon pairs especially well. Delicious bacon is all about striking a balance of sweet, smoky, salty, and meaty, and this Maple and Coffee Glazed Bacon has all those elements, with the coffee adding an earthy depth of flavour. Recipe here.
Chile Coffee Sticky Wings
These homemade sticky wings are everything you want and need in a homemade chicken wing recipe. The rub alone is delicious, but the sauce is even better. Recipe here.
Grilled Green Salad with Coffee Vinaigrette
Using these exact vegetables is not the point; choose whatever’s in season and can stand up to being charred. The genius coffee dressing brings it all together. Recipe here
