Danny's Days - 3rd March 2025

Last week went really fast at Lidgates HQ - and what a week it was! On Wednesday we attended the Smithfield Awards, which is the most prestigious awards in our industry. The best butchers in the UK can apply to be included in the Q Guild of Butchers. Once a year these 200 different businesses compete for a number of awards. If you look in our shop front window you will see a collection of the awards we have won over the past 2 years. This year we won the sausage category, beating everyone with our Gloucester Old Spot Sausage. We also won the Game category with a Rabbit Paupiette - a new product that will be available soon. To finish the day off, Callum - one of our apprentices - made the finals of the top UK apprenticeships. All in all an incredible day for the Lidgates team.

Talking of competitions, our Manager Steven Owens has been selected for the Team GB butchery team and will be competing in March against the best in the world in Paris. We’re all 100% behind him and have been supporting him in the lead up to this once in a lifetime opportunity. If you see him in the shop, please feel free to wish him luck, either the carrot or the stick works, motivation or demanding victory! All joking aside, we are very proud of him.

We have started taking pre-orders for Easter (something we encourage all of our customers to take advantage of). We will be putting up our Easter decorations soon as these sunnier days remind us Easter is just around the corner.
