Dover Street Counter – Mayfair
When: Opened 1st December 2025
Where: 31 Dover Street, Mayfait
Book: https://www.doverstreetcounter.com
The Famous Dover restaurant now has a sibling joining it in Mayfair. The Dover Street Counter is very much the suave, mischievous little brother of The Dover. It maintains the late-night ambiance and cinematic suaveness of The Dover but simplifies the menu to an all-day bar and counter style restaurant.
The starters have been replaced with snacks, where, along with an old school Martini or Lychee Margherita, you can enjoy diner classics like Disco Fries, Buttermilk Chicken slathered in hot honey, or a palate-cleansing whipped ricotta and truffle honey with Italian crispbread.
For mains, you could play it safe with the messy but gorgeous dishes of the Big Lamb Meatball with spicy puttanesca sauce and feta and parmigiano Reggiano, or the DSC French Dip, which contains tender sliced beef, beef ragu and pickles.
Let’s keep the New York theme going as we gorge on their excellent selection of desserts. There is the New York style cheesecake, a rich and flavoursome dish, which is perfectly offset by a fresh side of flambe banana. Both are covered in a spiced rum caramel sauce.
Though wine is not the first thing that might come to mind at a diner styled restaurant, their wine list is very good. I might suggest going Italian with your choice, as the Nero D’avola is a rich, full-bodied red that pairs nicely with the greasier dishes and offers a slight hint of chocolate and fruit, which could perfectly complete your delicious day out.

The Chocolate Cocktail Club
It’s Valentines Day this weekend – in case you forgot. So, we thought we’d offer a couple of Valentines related food events that might pique your interest. First is The Chocolate Cocktail Club. In Farringdon, you will find a one-of-a-kind bar experience. Their special Valentines cocktails on offer include the S’more Amore, a chocolate liqueur and marshmallow vodka mix; the Red Velvet Martini, a cocktail made from rum, raspberry, and chocolate; and the Berry in Love, a chocolate bitters, prosecco, and strawberry drink garnished with cotton candy. For more information, click here.
If your Valentines day plans involve more of a day out, then look no further than the Tooting Food Market. Over the weekend, you will be able to taste some of the best food from local stalls with locally made produce. There will be music, guided tours, and plenty of drinks to keep you going. So why not head down to Tooting and celebrate the community with some of London’s best market dishes.
Pasta Evangelists – Valentines Special
If your Valentines Day plans are a little more hands-on, the Pasta Evangelists might be the destination for you. They are a fresh pasta restaurant putting on a special pasta masterclass where you will learn to make the “love knot” pasta shape, which originated in the northern region of Valeggio sul Mincio in Italy. Don’t forget, you will also dine there after making the pasta and are able to enjoy unlimited prosecco, making it well worth the price of £60. For information on where to book, click here.
