Kawan
When: Opened 9th May 2026
Where: Macclesfield Street, W1D 5BP
Book: https://www.kawanlondon.co.uk
It is not rare for new restaurant openings to have a celebrity at the helm. Theo James, the actor, has recently opened his second restaurant, and celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver have a litany of places across the country. But this new restaurant, Kawan, is being opened by a slightly different type of celebrity. This comedian, whose alter ego is “Uncle Roger”, went viral for his foodie reviews a couple of years ago. And now, he is showing everyone what he can do.
Some of their best dishes, is the Egg Fried Rice with seafood. A very palatable and tasty dish which is a staple of the restaurant, unsurprising as Uncle Roger has consistently critiqued Gordon Ramsay’s version of his Egg Fried Rice. They also have their own take on a Wellington, another tasty dish which is a light jab at the celebrity chef. For sides, the Chicken Pumpkin Curry is a homely side dish which pairs nicely with the rice. There is also, the Seafood Pot, which contains fresh prawns and scallops. It’s a lighter side dish with a refreshing, tangy taste to it and comes with a slightly sweet soft bun to dip into the savoury sauce.
With excellent portion sizes, this new China town spot is a well worth a visit. To see Uncle Roger’s full menu, click here.

The Wine Circuit – The Battersea Power Station
After last year’s success, The Wine Circuit festival returns to Battersea Power Station. There are 20 wine stalls to explore as you make your way through the beautiful Artisan Market in Turbine Hall. To make sure you can continue to taste your way through as many wines as you can, there will be plenty of great street food vendors to keep your stomach full. There are lots of events to get involved in too. A wine-tasting masterclass from industry experts, The Wine Cup, which is a pub quiz-like competition, and crafting workshops all weekend long.
If you like your wines and have a few free hours at the end of the week, get your ticket here!
Get it Before it’s Gone - Timberyard at Cadet
The family-owned, Edinburgh-based, Michelin-star restaurant is doing a one-day-only pop-up at the Cadet Bistro in London. Cadet has a great record of bringing interesting pop-ups through its doors, and there’s no reason Timberyard should be any different.
Their plan: to do a relaxed Sunday service from 2pm to 9pm, serving dishes centred around Scottish seafood, preserves, charcuterie, and seasonal produce, paired with great wines and cocktails. If interested, book soon, as it is sure to fill up quickly.
