Danny's Days - 27th April 2026

This week we come with big news. Last Wednesday we took part in the prestigious Smithfield Awards at Butchers Hall, central London. A swanky affair for all the best butchers up and down the country. Guess what? We couldn’t believe it, but we won the overall competition!
Ben and I can’t take too much credit though, as the whole Lidgate entry was curated by our Holland Park Shop Manager, Steven Owens. He was accompanied by our fantastic front desk supervisor Emma Graham and apprentice Kasey, (who won runner-up) alongside Kasey’s proud twin sister. The competition was fierce, but our carefully selected cooked roast beef stood head and shoulders above all else. Well done to all the Lidgate team, but a special well done to Steven for all his efforts.
We also come off a busy weekend, being blessed with some glorious sunshine. Holland Park Avenue was filled with joyous smiles as people enjoyed themselves strolling around this unique and very special neighbourhood. Thank you to all who popped in to see us.
This week brings the end to April but also a special celestial event on Friday. There is one of the most important full moons of the year. Known as the flower moon, named for the abundant blooming of flowers during this spring month. It also celebrated in the Buddhist tradition as the Wesak festival.
Wesak is widely celebrated throughout the East as the Festival of the Buddha. For esotericists it is the high point of the spiritual year when forces of enlightenment flow from the higher worlds into the mind of humanity.
While Buddhists celebrate Wesak as the time that marks the birth, death and enlightenment of the Buddha, ageless wisdom students regard it as a living event. At the exact moment of the Taurus full moon, the Buddha is said to return momentarily to earth, appearing to those gathered in a secluded valley in the Himalayas who are able to see him. Some have dreamt of being present at the ceremony.
So, take extra care to keep your thoughts positive this week and hopefully your manifestations will become reality. I hope you all have a wonderful and fulfilling week,
The very best wishes,
Danny
