Danny's Days - 18th November 2024
Last Friday we witnessed 2024’s final supermoon. Supermoons occur when the full moon coincides with the moon being at the point in its orbit within 90% of its closest approach to Earth, called Perigee. November's supermoon will be the last of four supermoons in a row this year. November's full moon is called the Beaver Moon, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac. The name was chosen because this is the time of year when beavers start sheltering in their lodges after having prepared food stores for the winter. Another interpretation is that Native American tribes would set beaver traps before the swamps froze, ensuring a supply of warm winter furs.
Last week also saw a busy week here at Lidgates. We launched the first Pumpkin Pies of 2024 on Saturday. I tried the first batch and my gosh they taste good! We have sourced our pumpkin from the same organic pumpkin farmer for the last 25 years. Here’s a short video of him, with a surprise visit from Monsieur Ginger (his cat):
The kitchen in general have been busy and expect to be even busier as we embrace the cold weather coming our way in the near future. Here’s what one London foodie thought of our hot and ready to eat Sausage Rolls:
As we start the second half of November, I wish you all a productive and successful week ahead.
The very best wishes
Danny
