Tobi Masa – The Chancery Rosewood
When: Opened October 17th
Where: The Chancery Rosewood Hotel, W1K 9AN
A Michelin star chef in one of London’s most luxurious hotels is the dream combination behind one of the city’s most exciting new openings: Tobi Masa. ‘Japanese simplicity with global creativity’ is the Masa tagline, and the menu and look, certainly reflect that. A slick wood panel roof, marble counters and a bubbly aura that never gets too overwhelming tied together with a menu of Japanese classics and gourmet sushi.
This is the second Masa of its kind, having first become a sushi sensation 20 years ago in New York. Now Chef Masayoshi Takayama is bringing their Japanese dishes to central London. They have brought along some signature New York classics such as the Peking duck tacos and the Masa Surimi. For lighter options, the mushroom tofu miso soup is a wonderfully smooth dish and a perfect starter. If you want a richer main course, you might want to look through the grill section where you can find cumin lamb chops, wasabi steak and tuna steak ponzu.
While London may have many Japanese restaurants on its high streets, it can be hard to find excellent sushi, perhaps until now. You will have to see for yourself.
