This fine dining Italian restaurant Langosteria has arrived from Milan after months of anticipation. The original restaurant was started by Enrico Buonocore, who opened a small 40-seater in the heart of Milan almost 20 years ago. Since then, its success has produced multiple spots around Italy, as well as places in France, Switzerland and now the UK.
Between the belt buckle booth design, cartoons on the wall and dancing lobster lamp topper, there is a real unique quirkiness to this seafood spot. The menu itself can be a little overwhelming, so here are a few popular dishes that have emerged since its first couple of months in action.
Oyster fans among you will enjoy the Plateau Langosteria, which offers a sharing dish of 10 oysters, 2 gambero rosso, 2 langoustine, 2 mazzancolle prawns, almond clams, sea truffles and bulots. If you’re looking for a smaller starter, the Sicilian red prawn is a soft and succulent alternative.
For mains, the Sea Gass in salt crust served with crunchy potatoes or Royal Gambero Rosso, which is coated in a spicy tomato sauce, are reliable options. For anyone looking for something a little plainer, the tagliolini, langoustine and lemon, served with Amalfi lemon and chives, does the job nicely. Their cocktail list also includes some fun choices, such as their signature Pomodoro Mezcal, which includes The Lost Explorer Espadin, tomato and Ally’s spice mix. And if this is a little too adventurous for you, you cannot go wrong with a Negroni.
Meatopia London
One of London’s biggest and best meat festivals arrives this Thursday. 75 chefs cooking up unique meaty dishes over live fire. This festival started in New York and now awaits its 13th consecutive year being hosted at the Tobacco Dock in London. The line up of chefs includes popular sellers such as the Mexican inspired food of Cavita, the Polish Italian fusion of Solan or the BBQ sausage specialist Sosij. Magic of Thailand
For the price of only £6 per adult, and free tickets for kids, this family friendly Thai food festival should be well worth the entry fee. It has been touring around the UK all summer and hits Ealing Common for its final conclusion. Like any good festival, the food is only a part of the fun. Along with various traditional Thai food stalls, there will also be arts and crafts, Thai dances and performances, Muay Thai demonstrations, a Thai beer garden and even Thai massages available. Food Art Fair
This food fair is a great choice if you’re looking for something a little unusual to do this weekend. This two-day exhibition at Ladbroke Hall is a community-based project between artists, designers, chefs, publishers and makers. The one item that connects all the work is food. It’s also more than just spectating, there are workshops, screenings, talks, edible items to nosh on by Murder Cake and free nibbles from Hana no Hana.
