Ornella

When: Opened May 8th, 2026

Where: 51 Wilton Way, E8 1BG

Book: https://www.ornella.restaurant

From the founders of the Roman themed restaurant Lupa, this Milanese inspired restaurant opens on Wilton Way. The founders include restaurateur Ed Templeton, Head Chef Naz Hassan, and actor Theo James, an unlikely combination which has already proved successful.

The wood panelled interior gives this new spot a rustic yet homely feel. It does not try to impress you but is there to put you at ease.

A famous name and previous success are not enough to make someone turn up and spend their precious pennies, so let's have a deep dive into what to order. For starters, a solid, crispy focaccia is a pleasant first step, with perhaps the Vitello Tonnato for your antipasti. This veal-based dish is an easy, salty and creamy starter.

I'd suggest next moving on to the Tajarin al Brodo di Cipolla, a signature dish recommended by the founders, which is a Milanese take on French onion soup, served with an incredible broth of onions and chicken stock, giving the dish a rich and elegant flavour.

Finally, for those looking for an equally rich dessert, the Zuppa Inglese, or Italian trifle, would be a good choice. Anyone looking for anything healthier, the seasonal fruit Mille Feuille should do nicely.

The Wandsworth Common Great Beer & Cider Summer Festival

At the historic Royal Victoria Patriotic Building, it is the 40th anniversary of the Wandsworth Common Great Beer & Cider Festival. There are 150 beers and ciders on offer from all over the UK between Wednesday 5 August and Saturday 8 August. There will be live entertainment in the Great Hall, which is London's largest tap bar. To complete the ultimate beer and cider summer experience, there is, of course, an all-day BBQ to enjoy. Tickets can be purchased here!

Craft Rum Tasting Aboard the Golden Hinde

Near London Bridge, The Golden Hinde is hosting a special craft rum tasting experience in collaboration with the experts at RumCask. For the history nerds among you, The Golden Hinde is Sir Francis Drake’s ship, which circumnavigated the globe and is now moored in central London.

Aptly, you will be able to try 20 different rums that have been handpicked from across the globe. You’ll cover a whole spectrum of rum, from complex to easy, and from spiced to smooth. If this sounds like a bit of you, tickets can be purchased here.

Short Road Pizza at Three Colts Tavern

Time Out calls it the third best pizza in the world, so it feels silly not to try this limited-edition pizza available this summer. The thin, crispy style is a family recipe from the head chef, whose pizza style has become one of the most popular in London over the last few months.

This month, there are a few specials that we think you should try. The Tatemada Pep, which contains slow cooked tomato, pepperoni, mozz, burnt jalapeño salsa tatemada, and stracciatella. Or the white based Mortazza with fior di latte mozz, black pepper, and Guindilla chillies. Have a try before they bring in some new pies! More info here.
