Café Clement
When: Opened June 16th
Where: St Clement Hotel, WC2R 2NF
Book: https://stclement.co.uk/contact/
Café Clement is the brainchild of Nick Jones, founder of Soho House, and Chef Danny Bohan. Chef Bohan is another in a long line of chefs, such as Jamie Oliver and Theo Randall, to come out of the iconic River Café and start restaurants of their own. This new spot is a peaceful addition to the St Clement Hotel, offering an all-day café that you could pop into for a quick bite to eat or settle into, for an afternoon Sunday roast.
With its breakfast menu, it is hard to ignore the seven different egg-based dishes at the centre of the menu. The Half Clement, which includes two eggs any style, sausage, bacon, beans, tomato and toast, is a slightly fancier version of a classic café breakfast. Meanwhile, the Open Lobster Omelette, served with crème fraîche and tarragon, is a much more extravagant way to start your day.
If you’re there for lunch or dinner, the lighter dishes, such as the zucchini fritters and cheese soufflé, make for easy-going, tasty starters. For the heartier dishes, highlights include the spatchcocked chicken with speck and green bean vinaigrette, the Dorset crab with marinated tomatoes and aioli, and the steak haché with crinkle-cut chips.
For drinks, the cocktails are hard to ignore, as they are beautifully illustrated on the menu. Before summer is over, I’d go for a refreshing classic Hugo Spritz, made with gin, elderflower, Prosecco and mint, or the Naked and Famous, made with mezcal, Yellow Chartreuse, Aperol and lime.
It’s not too expensive and given the amount of hype it’s receiving at the moment, it might be worth going just in case you spot a celebrity!

Greenford Quay Canal Festival
This Saturday, the Greenford Quay Canal Festival is taking place and it might be one of the last opportunities to soak up the sun. There you can enjoy the many street food vendors curated by T&T Markets, live music, free kayaking sessions, artisan markets, pop-up bars and interactive family activities. Tickets are completely free, so why not reserve a spot and pop in while you’re out for a little weekend canal walk? If this sounds up your street, tickets can be booked here.
Breakfast at Bone Daddies
For breakfast, you would rarely think of going to a ramen place over a classic British café or coffee shop. However, Bone Daddies’ latest venture offers a different way to start your morning. Their new breakfast ramen includes Cumberland sausage mince, Bloody Mary tomato, hash browns, spring onion and beansprouts, topped with HP tonkatsu sauce and finished with half a soy egg and noodles. This English Asian fusion dish is available until the 30th of September, so be careful not to miss out. And if you can’t make it in the morning, don’t worry, they serve this dish from 10am until closing. More details here.
Matcha Ritual and Matcha Bowl Making Workshop
The rise of matcha has continued to spread across London this summer, so we thought we’d find a matcha-related experience for anyone looking for a more peaceful way to enjoy their drink. You’ll be taken through what separates great matcha from the rest, exploring its colour, texture and taste. You’ll then get to build your own matcha bowl with the help of the experts at Meiro Ceramics. A food-safe matcha bowl, to take home, is also included in the ticket price and professionally made for you, just in case your own attempt at making one goes wrong…To get a ticket, click here.
