Mondo To Go
When: Opened 10th April 2026
Where: Arch 5, Deptford Market Yards, SE8 4BX
Book: www.mondosando.com
First a little sandwich shop run by two friends, Jack and Viggo, now referred to as “the best sandwich shop in Britain”, they are finally opening a second spot in Deptford and it’s an absolute must-try. A good lunch or dinner spot, Mondo is a versatile, lively destination, made to be a useful takeaway spot for you to grab something in between work or on your way home for dinner.
This new spot includes some of Mondo’s specialities, as well as new sandwiches that might be worth a try. The Everything Cutlet is a crowd pleaser, which includes an everything Chicken Cutlet, Red Leicester, and Pickle Salad toasted on a thin loaf. Equally lovely is their Chicken Caesar, with Confit Chickpeas, Mixed Leaves, Crouton Herbs, Pickled Onion, and Yoghurt Caesar Dressing.
If subs are more your thing, then the Turkey Combo could be a great choice, with its succulent House-sliced Turkey, Provolone, Tomato, Mixed Leaves, Onions, and the special Mondo “Jazz” spread. For sides, we’d suggest their Pickle Pot or Latkas — two very different side dishes that can offer either a lighter or more pungent taste, depending on the customer.
It’s a lovely independent sandwich spot that we really think is worth a try!

Foodies Festival – Syon Park
This weekend, the UK’s biggest food festival is coming, and there’s plenty on offer. Every day there is live music, with a litany of acts ranging from Scouting for Girls to more indie offerings. A Cake and Bake Theatre will make you feel like you’re on Bake Off, and a children’s cookery school will mean there is something for everybody. Not only will you be able to see some top chefs in action, but meet them as well in the meet-and-greet section. With plenty of food to try and lots to do, why not head to Syon Park for a little adventure? If you want to book, click here.
An Evening with The Glenrothes
The whiskey drinkers amongst you will be happy to know that this week, at the Dukes London Hotel, a premium whiskey tasting is taking place. From 6–8pm, you will be able to sample four Glenrothes whiskies. You start with a welcome cocktail, then make your way from 15-year-old Glenrothes, to 18-year-old, 25-year-old, and finally 32-year-old.
This guided tour is a fun yet peaceful evening activity, where you get to taste your way through whiskey history in the gorgeous drawing room of this fancy Mayfair hotel. If you fancy heading along, tickets can be booked here.
Get It Before It’s Gone – Mexico Cooking at Jazu
We always like to highlight some exciting pop-ups hidden in the pubs and cafés of London. This week, Chef Jack Hancock finds himself at the Jazu Bar until 6th June. In his residency, Jack is focusing on Mexican cuisine. You can expect Blood Orange Panzanella, Blackened Pickles & Ferments, and Calçot Onions with Macadamia and Smoked Anchovy.
