Danny's Days - 4th November 2024

Last week I went on an interesting trip visiting some of the farms that supply us. On Monday I visited our organic chicken farmer Ross in Honiton in Devon. Like many of our suppliers we have been buying his produce for multiple generations, with my father buying from his father. It was amazing to see how his operation has progressed and to see all his family working together in a seriously slick farming operation.

On Tuesday we went to see Judith Freane, one of our beef producers in Shepton Mallet.  I brought my daughters with me to both these visits as I wanted to show them, as I had been shown, what farming in the UK looks like and how hard our farmers work to provide good, healthy and honest food. Judith's operation was a particular eye opener for my girls (14 and 11) as they witnessed organic yoghurts being produced at Brown Cow Organics and listened to a proud Judith tell us how her daughter was taking on many of the business responsibilities at the farm.

A real heart warming couple of days, then straight back to Lidgates butchers to tell the team of my experiences. If you want to see some of the action you can follow our posts on Instagram.

On Friday we launched our Christmas Collection on our website. Of course many customers prefer to phone us and discuss their requirements, (and our ladies are ready for the calls,) but there is a growing number of people who place orders through our website.

Whichever way you choose, we are just very grateful for your order and will do our utmost to deliver a memorable Christmas dinner for you and your loved ones.

I hope you have a great week ahead,  can you believe it’s November already?

 The very best wishes,

Danny
