Emble Farm Sirloin Steak 250g

The distinctive feature of the beef from Emble Farm on the Northumberland Coast is that the cattle are never fed processed food, they only eat what is grown on the farm. As farmer Guy Douglas proudly explains it:

I buy cattle, mainly in Scotland, when they are about a year old and continue the long tradition of bringing them down from hill ground to the coast and fattening them up. I can speak to every part of their diet because it is all homegrown...the time the meat takes to grow is not minimised, it happens naturally.

We farm regeneratively, which is another way of saying that we focus on the biology rather than the chemistry of lots of sprays and fertiliser and the physics of huge amounts of horsepower and soil disturbance. We want as much life in the soil as possible, and spend a lot of time trying to maximise this by lots of different means… including the crops we grow, the blend of species we sow in our forage crops, the fermentation techniques we use to break down our manure, the very large number of hedge plants and trees we have in our field boundaries to promote biodiversity and a significant amount of nature friendly strips scattered about the farm.
